Johnson Matthey Colour Technologies offer three different product ranges for decorating architectural glass. All have flexible capabilities and are available in a selection of formats to allow for different applications; these can vary from screen print paste to water-based paste for spraying or curtain coating. The three ranges differ from each other in chemical composition, especially with regard to the presence of lead and/or cadmium. Whilst ranges containing cadmium are limited in terms of colour variation, those ranges without cadmium do not contain vivid yellow, red or orange. You can also order special cadmium-containing colours in an environmental friendly format. These are based on the same frit systems as other colours from the range, ensuring perfectly intermixable results. As well as special heavy metal-free frits, a cadmium pigment is required to obtain bright yellow, red and orange colours. All ranges are tested according to international standards that are commonly used for this type of glass.
